The ancient past

Galloglas of the minor sort
(galloglass, gallowglass)

This theory indicates the possibility that those with the surname CARLOS, CARLEY, CORLY, CURLY (and other variants) was a sept of a Scottish clan such as MacLEAN or CAMPBELL, and were “minor” galloglas. This is one possible explanation of how CARLOS’ got from Scotland to Ireland, if they indeed went from Ireland, to Scotland, and back again to Ireland.

On a personal note

If my CARLOS’ WERE galloglas families where galloglas is in my genes, so to speak, it would explain a characteristic of mine: In battle, I stand my ground ‘TO THE LAST.’ Contemporary (so-called civilized) society offers many opportunies to battle others in endless ways, although usually not in man-to-man combat.
